8.19 Staff Handbook

We shall ensure that all staff are made aware of the terms, conditions, acceptable behaviours and routines of Amberley OSHC by providing an Educator Handbook.

Relevant Laws and other Provisions

The laws and other provisions affecting this policy include:

  • Education And Care Services National Law & Regulations 2011
  • Privacy Act 1988 and Regulations 2013
  • National Quality Standard
  • Queensland Work Health & Safety Act 2011
  • Fair Work Australia

Procedures

An Educator Handbook shall be developed by Amberley OSHC.

The handbook will be updated at least annually or more often if required.

Staff shall be invited to participate in the development and review of the handbook.

Where appropriate, the ideas and suggestions made by staff shall be incorporated in the handbook.

The educator handbook shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following information:

  • Our goals
  • Our structure and licensee
  • Key staff expectations
  • The rights of the child

The educator handbook is a procedural document of Amberley OSHC and forms a part of the conditions of employment.

Breaches of the statements in the educator handbook will subject the staff member to disciplinary action.

The educator handbook applies to all workers at Amberley OSHC, both paid and non-paid.
