6.9 Visitor Safety

We shall ensure that all persons who visit our service are aware of Amberley OSHC safety requirements and that these requirements are followed at all times.

The laws and other provisions affecting this policy include:

  • Queensland Work Health And Safety Act & Regulations 2011
  • Children And young Workers Code Of Practice 2006
  • How To Manage Work Health And Safety Risks Code Of Practice 2011
  • Creating Safer Environments For children National Framework 2005


A visitor to Amberley OSHC is any person who is not a staff member, parent or authorised nominee or another individual as specifically determined by the Nominated Supervisor.

All visitors must report to Reception on arrival at Amberley OSHC and sign the Visitors Register.

Visitors are to be advised of any Safety Policies and Procedures that may be relevant to the purpose and/or time of their visit.

All visitors to Amberley OSHC will be assessed to ensure that they are wearing suitable clothing to ensure the minimisation of risk to the person.

All visitors must be accompanied or supervised by a staff member during their time at Amberley OSHC.

Any person found on the premises unescorted will be asked by any staff member who observes them if they require assistance and then direct the person back to Reception.

All non-public access areas shall be marked by clear signage and/or entry shall be restricted by locked doors.

In the event of a fire or other emergency the Emergency Response Team is responsible for ensuring that the visitors are evacuated to safety.
